Celebrating 60 Years of Service
The Rotary Club of Georgetown has much to celebrate! Sixty years ago, the Rotary Club of Taylor sponsored a new Rotary Club in Georgetown, TX. What twenty-five local businessmen started has now grown into a large and active Rotary Club known for its service to the community, the region and the world.
In 1962, the Rotary International President Joseph A. Abey chose the theme "Aim for Action, Communicate for Understanding, Test for Leadership." The Rotary Club of Georgetown, TX, took these directives seriously and today its members are truly "friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change."
It is fortuitous that the Rotary Club of Georgetown, TX, celebrates this milestone in the same year that Rotary International is being led by its first female president. RI President Jennifer Jones selected "Imagine Rotary" as her annual theme and invited Rotarians across the globe to imagine what might be possible when we work together to solve the world's most pressing problems.
As we celebrate the outcomes of past service and imagine what more we can do together, join members of the Rotary Club of Georgetown, TX, Rotary District 5870 leaders, and other dignitaries to mark this special occasion. We will gather at 11am (earlier than our regular meeting time) for fellowship and lunch. This special meeting will be called to order at 11:30am and conclude at 1pm so we may have an extended program. If you are a member, you will have an opportunity during upcoming meetings to RSVP. Please add your name (and guest names if applicable) to the RSVP list at the member and guest information desk (where Myra sits). Those not associated directly with the Club may RSVP via email to Executive Secretary Myra Page.
This is a not-to-be missed event for Club members! The Club's 60th Anniversary celebrations will continue in December as we host a holiday party with our local beneficiaries. Watch for more details in the coming months.
