This year our Matching Grant with The Rotary Club Victoria in Tamaulipas, Mexico

is to provide a type 3 Ambulance to Victoria’s Childrens Hospital which is a regional Health Care Center dedicated specifically for young adults under the age of 19 years of age. Following is from our sister Club in Victoria.

VICTORIA’S CHILDRENS HOSPITAL IS A REGIONAL HEALTH CARE CENTER DEDICATED SPECIFICALLY FOR PEOPLE UNDER 19 YEARS OF AGE.

THEY HAVE ALL SPECIALTIES OF MEDICINE IN PRACTICE AND DUE TO IT’S HIGH SKILL OF PRACTICE, IT RECIEVES PATIENTS FROM TWO NEIGHBOR STATES (VERACRUZ AND SAN LUIS POTOSI). FROM JANUARY 2011 TO THIS DATE, THE HOSPITAL HAS HAD 55,000 PATIENTS. THE TOTAL POPULATION OF TAMAULIPAS UNDER 19 IS WELL ABOVE 1,000,000 PEOPLE THAT WILL BE POTENTIALLY CARED FOR IN THIS HOSPITAL.

THE MAIN ISSUE IS THAT BEING A REGIONAL HOSPITAL, IT HAS A FREQUENT NEED TO TRANSFER PATIENTS FROM OUT OF THE CITY, UP UNTILL NOW, THEY DO NOT HAVE THE IDEAL TRANSPORTATION MEANS WHICH WE INTEND TO PROVIDE. THE ISSUE WILL BE ADDRESSED WITH THE DONATION OF A TYPE 3 AMBULANCE FOR HIGH RISK PATIENTS. THE TIME SPAN FROM ORDER PLACEMENT TO DELIVERY IS AROUND 5 MONTHS.

THIS PROYECT WILL PROVIDE THE MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION NEEDED TO HIGH RISK PATIENTS AND ALSO INCREASE THE SUCCESS RATE OF CRITICAL CONDITION ATTENTION PATIENTS.

When Laura Antoine, Laura Tilrico, Hector Martinez and Jim Albers attended the Bi-District Conference in South Padre Island a few weeks ago we meet this years President JAVIER DE LOS SANTOS VALERO. Javier and his wife Ana plan on attending our 50th Anniversary on April 20. What a great opportunity to meet our fellow Rotarian and welcome them warmly to our Club. We have years of History to share.

This grant has been signed by our Clubs and our Districts and submitted to Rotary International, we are now waiting for RI’s approval.
